Analyzing Key Word Search Results By Importance
While there are many key words provided to a web master from key word research tools, not all of those words are going to be helpful when it comes to understanding the effectiveness of the word to the website. For example, you may be looking for key words that relate in some way to the word "lead," as in a lead for your business, a prospective client. However, in the key word research tools, it is likely that terms like lead crystal and lead singer appeared in the results. As you may be able to tell right away, these terms are not helpful to your website's purpose.
So, how can you get the right key words out of this list of hundreds of results that you have had? It does take some work to get this job done, but it is not difficult, nor does it have to be overly time consuming. Rather, you should focus on doing this type of analyzing by hand. Do not rely on computer programs or software to provide you with the most valuable key words for your website. You need to look through the options available.
Here is a method that you can use to analyze these key word results effectively.
* After placing all of the key words into a spreadsheet, you can then analyze each one by hand. Yes, it takes time but it is important. As you can see in the example above, computers cannot provide the most thorough results.
* Next to each of the words, place the number five if the term is exceptionally important to your business. In this case, you will want to use words related to business leads as number five.
* Those key word results that provide you with words that are not a direct relation to your business as it is should be given a number one. These are words that may not have any direct relation to your business even though they seem to.
* Finally, use the numbers in between to analyze the rest of the keywords. Rank those that are valuable closer to five and those that are less ideal closer to number one.
This process allows you to determine how valuable each of the key words are to your business. It is only after you have done this that you can determine if the word should be included in your website or not.
